The Present Situation of E-Commerce

Global ECommerce has been growing rapidly since the original internet boom from the 1990’s.  From the 2000’s on ecommerce has been the way people and now companies prefer to purchase and sell goods and services.

Capitalism has gone a huge way since its emergence as a full-on ideal. The philosophy behind it has not only expanded but tremendously evolved from the basic premise of free markets and a consumerist population. Whereas in the past there were physical stores in which you would buy products and receive them instantly, things have gone up in complexity. Now, with the invention of the internet, a real of possibilities have been opened for hundreds of entrepreneurs who want to make a living by selling their goods via numerous sites. This allows them to reach people who are not even physically in the same country, giving them the option of involving in transactions that help the consumer in return. What is more beautiful than that?

This new way of commercialization via a non-physical medium such as the internet is called Electronic commerce, or simply e-commerce. Is a thing that is gaining popularity ever since the mid-1990’s, where sites such as Amazon and E-bay were pioneers in the business of selling various objects through the internet. Of course, e-commerce at that point was at its most primitive, without the new options this generation have. As time went by, there were new kids on the block who started to take the spot of undisputed kings of the medium: social media sites. Web pages such as Facebook, Twitter and so on started to provide options for the masses to continue to engage in this type of transactions. This helped e-commerce to keep afloat and better than ever. Some of the new trends of e-commerce are starting to show up, and they promise a lot more than just a simple “buy one get one” scheme. Here are a few examples of its continuing modernism:

·         Chatbots: Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, and Google Allo are all introducing integrated bots to help with shopping, booking and customer service. This will allow customers to interact with a non-human program, certainly a big step forward that is both alarming (as humans are constantly no longer needed for certain jobs) and interesting.

·         Artificial intelligence: Apple has got Siri, Amazon’s Alexa, Microsoft’s Cortana, and so on and so on. This is starting a new trend in which programs are integrating into the lives of human beings, a thing that will certainly change the experience of the buyer in many ways.

·         Mobile: This is a very talked-about topic as it is, but it is simply impossible to dismiss the importance of mobile phones in e-commerce. The new gadgets have made this kind of transaction even more accessible, providing people with total freedom for their own respective purchases. It is revolutionary, and it is certainly a thing that will continue to change the game.

·         Personal marketing: This effective kind of approach ensures that the right product is pitched at the right individual, further establishing a more personal bond between buyer and seller.

Those kinds of new things are part of what makes e-commerce today’s biggest innovation. A platform that has contributed in many ways with the movement, going as far as providing a place for individual sellers to expand their businesses, is Amazon. Amazon sellers are increasing in number on a daily basis, taking advantage of the platform Amazon gives them. With that being said, the UK and European sellers may experience some troubles repatriating their profit back to the U.S. And for that problem, I have an alternative solution.
